Especially now that more and more cars are coming with them stock, like the new EVO, it really isn't making much sense any more. The only reason I can think of is to reduce spending to level the playing field a bit, since good sequential gearboxes can cost quite a bit. How could it be simpler? Honestly, I'm not really sure. I need to do some more research on sequentials to be able to answer that for you. The ban on sequential gearboxes confuses me in rally america as well.
