What Should I Use To Make a Mudflap
[ May 1st, 2008 ] By: Charles Smith Posted in » Questions

Since I am a poor college student I can’t afford things like predesigned, cut and tested mud flaps,I have to make my own. I’m curious if you have any insight into what I should use to make mud flaps with. Some current ideas have included: Old T-Shirts, Thick Vinyl (melt some records?), UHMW, Roommate’s toenail clippings with resin, rubber bands, cement, aluminum foil (layered duh) and, of course, cardboard.

Please comment with your ideas.

my first instinct would be surgical steel because it sounds cool.

a more practical solution would be the trays from McDonalds.

    Cost to you: ZERO
    Cool factor: ice cold

    McDonald’s trays sound awesome.

take all my used condoms and melt them into one huge disgusting peice of rubber type flap. you know you want to.

Keep it simple. Get a used mud flap from a semi-tractor. I’m sure the salvage yards don’t make much money off of them, so you may be able to get it for free or close to it. One flap is big enough to make two flaps for your car.
